FEATHERS AND SF COMEDY COLLEGE JOIN COMEDIC FORCES Sunnyvale, CA: Comedy in the South Bay is about to get a whole lot better in 2006, with the alliance between Rooster T. Feathers and the San Francisco Comedy College making Tuesdays the night to see some of the hottest talent in the Bay Area. Starting January 10th, and every Tuesday thereafter, you’ll be able to witness the comic genius of the SF Comedy College’s premier troupe, The Stand-up Project and the Bay Area’s hottest new improv troupe, SPF7. The shows start at 7 pm, beginning with the New Faces showcase, featuring the newest talent to emerge from the SFCC. The Stand-up Project takes the stage at 8pm followed by improv madness at 9pm. Rooster T Feathers is located at 157 W. El Camino Real in Sunnyvale. $10 cover + 2 drink minimum will get you all three shows. Kurtis Matthews, SF Comedy College founder and member of The Stand-up Project commented, “We are excited to have a new home in the South Bay. Rooster’s is the right venue to showcase the talent that reflects by the hard work done at the Comedy College”. Matthews is a 20+ year comedy veteran who founded the College to give new comics training and support that allows them to hit the comedy circuit looking like experienced performers. “It’s something that I believed was needed in comedy for a long time, and the fact that the school just keeps expanding tells you something. We are also expanding to San Diego this year, and we are excited to start new comedy communities in other cities. It’s an incredible thing to participate in.” The SFCC will also be bringing classes to the Rooster’s stage. Matthews will be teaching classes for both beginning and advanced stand-up comedians. Sammy Wegent, recent winner of The Battle of the Bay stand-up comedy competition and artistic director/ member of SPF7 will be teaching improv classes and Mike Funt, also a member of SPF7 will be teaching classes in writing for television.
