San Francisco Comedy College Alum Takes First Place at “Battle of the Bay” Comedy Competition

SFCC Alumni and Students Dominate Series

San Francisco (December 19, 2003) Led by the first place finish of alumnus George Corrigan, and in third place, Reggie Steele, students and graduates of the San Francisco Comedy College (SFCC) took top honors in the “Battle of The Bay” Comedy Competition finals held December 16 at the San Jose Improv Comedy Palace. From an original pool of over 130 contestants, four of the seven finalists had close connections to the SFCC. Nine additional Comedy College students and alumni had participated in the semi-finals.

Originally from England, Corrigan says his comedy is both, “historical and hysterical.” During the competition, Corrigan presented his unique and very funny observations on current events as well as life as an Englishman living in the United States. In addition to corporate events, Corrigan continues to perform in Bay Area venues including the Improv, Rooster T. Feathers and Cobb’s Comedy Club.

Alabama native, Steele describes his material as, “personal, fun, silly and digestible for the masses.”  He says, “I talk about real events that have taken place in my life with my little twist on them.”  Steele expects to someday quit the day job and perform his one-man show across the country. He also gives considerable credit to his training per the SFCC, “ I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the best people in the business that are helping us to become what we want to be.”
