TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP
Term: SF - 5 weeks,
Sunnyvale - 5 Weeks
Working from The Stand-up Comedy Workbook - which you receive as part of your
tuition - you will learn how to cut through writer's block, build a premise, and
generate endless punch lines for that premise until you find the one that rocks.
The Technique Workshop is a required prerequisite for the Performance Workshop.
Even professional comedians with years of experience take this class to improve
existing skills and push themselves in new creative directions. In this
workshop, you will learn to apply the Joke Diagram, association lists, organic
development, characters and POVs to create your own jokes.
You will learn:
o Material generation techniques
o Riffing (improvisation)
o Storytelling
o Building audience rapport
o Multiple perspectives (POVS)
o Finding your "style"
o Eliminating self-criticism
o Dealing with stage fright
o Rehearsal

(2) FREE audits of performance workshops at all SFCC schools and affiliates, (3)

For you fence sitters: The first half of the first class meeting may be audited
