IMPROV TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP
What You Will Learn
An improviser's utility belt is loaded with countless acting exercises,
communication skills, and other tools that enable him or her to freely
and playfully create spontaneous theatre. The Improv Technique Workshop
will help you build your foundation as a smart, imaginative, and
fearless improviser. You will learn the basic fundamentals of
improvisation such as accepting ideas, give and take,
beginning/middle/end, and connecting information. The Improv Technique
Workshop is a required prerequisite for the Improv Performance Workshop.

Level 1: The Skills --This beginner's class teaches
the basic fundamentals of improvisation and will help you feel more
spontaneous and creative on stage and off!

improv or acting experience necessary
Level 2: The Scene--This intermediate class focuses
on the elements of what separates a good improv scene from a great
improv scene and it also will teach you to be a better
conversationalist!
Session: 5 weeks

Prerequisite: SFCC
Improv Level 1 or some beginning improv experience
Level 3: The Show--This advanced class prepares you
to do the style of comedic longform that was made famous in Chicago
and is one of the most popular, challenging, and rewarding kinds of
improv you'll ever attempt. You'll be funnier after you take this
class! This level culminates in a graduation showcase.

SAMMY WEGENT -- Your Improv Instructor
Sammy is a Comedian/Improviser/Actor who has been teaching, performing,
and directing improvisation professionally for 7 years. He holds an
M.F.A. in Acting from Catholic University in Washington D.C. and a B.F.A
in Theatre from Shorter College. A recent graduate of the San Francisco
Comedy College, Sammy has performed stand-up all over the Bay Area,
including SF Comedy College showcases at the San Jose Improv, Cobb's
Comedy Club, and Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club. Sammy is the
Associate Artistic Director of the Seaside Repertory Theatre in
Seaside, FL as well as the Artistic Director of SPF 7, the 2-Time World
Record Holders for the longest improv show by a single troupe (35 Hour
Show and 70 Hour Show).
He has performed all over North America at such venues as the Destin
Punchline Comedy Club, the St. Louis Fringe Festival, The Shakespeare
Theatre in Washington D.C., the Gulf Coast Comedy Festival, and the
Toronto International Improv Festival. Sammy has taught improvisation
and acting at numerous universities, comedy festivals, and theatre
conferences. He is the creator and Executive Producer of the Gulf Coast
Comedy Festival.
