THE STAND-UP PROJECT OFFERS FREE STAND-UP COMEDY SHOWS
Pioneering Stand-up Comedy Show Breaks Ground at Hip New Theatre District Venue
The San Francisco Comedy College, one of America’s finest and most innovative
stand-up comedy schools, is proud to present The Stand-up Project, its premier
stand-up comedy troupe in a series of free weekly Saturday shows starting
Saturday, February 4th, 2005. Shows begin at 8pm at the SFCC Clubhouse, a fresh
performance space located at 414 Mason St. #705 in the theatre district of San
Francisco.
The Stand-up Project is a diverse group of eight comedians featuring the best
Bay Area talents, including Reggie Steele, the 2003 winner of the Rooster T.
Feathers comedy competition, Michael Slack, a featured performer at the San Jose
Improv and Kurtis Matthews, a veteran performer who regularly headlined at the
Improv chain and other clubs nationwide. Newly-out gay comedian Sean
Hetherington, outspoken Liz Grant, improvisational Bob Brindley, offbeat Anthony
Hill and politically astute Tom Smith complete the troupe.
“What we’re doing here is unheard of in the stand-up comedy community,” says San
Francisco Comedy College founder Kurtis Matthews. “Rather than focusing solely
on our individual talents, we are working together to foster a sense of
community and provide a great show featuring the finest local comedians.”
The Stand-up Project offers something for everyone, whether it is political
commentary, personal storytelling, improvisational riffing or just straight
one-liners. The entire show is free. Water, soft drinks and snacks are
available.
